About IBM Speech Recognition

IBM ViaVoice Desktop Dictation for Windows is a proven, sophisticated large vocabulary speaker-dependent voice recognition technology that dynamically converts voice into text for a wide variety of application uses, including documentation and/or live computer navigation. Based on many years of development by IBM, the IBM ViaVoice Software Developers Kit (SDK) for Windows contains documentation, samples, and tools to help you speech enable your applications using the IBM ViaVoice dictation and/or command & control Runtimes. And for the more advanced developer, the SDK also includes a Topic Factory to enable the creation of topics, which are specialized vocabularies to be used in addition to the standard ViaVoice vocabularies. The SDK supports a US English development environment to speech-enable applications in multiple languages.

Licensing

IBM ViaVoice desktop is licensed in two steps. The first step is to purchase an SDK license. This provides the software environment for internal development and testing. Each SDK comes with sample runtimes in supported languages. The second step is to purchase a license to deploy/distribute Runtimes (engine etc). Please note that all types of deployment/distribution require licensing. The most common categories are runtime deployment within an enterprise or runtime distribution with a voice enabled product. Wizzard offers licensing models and packages to cover a wide spectrum of scenarios.

Note: The minimum purchase amount for any type of deployment/distribution license is $1500.00. All licensing is based on volume grids where the per unit prices decrease as volumes increase. Each runtime license covers one speech engine for one language on each client machine. For example: Dictation Runtime distribution licenses start at $25.00 per unit, and Command/Control Runtime distribution licenses are available in minimum order quantities of 60 units at $25.00 per unit, and Command/Control Runtime distribution licenses are available in minimum order quantities of 300 units at $5.00 per unit. In both cases, higher volume purchases will result in lower per unit prices.
